How Long To Cook A Ham
Every year for the holidays we offer deliciously cured, bone in hams from our pasture raised pork. I’m so humoured so many of you choose them as the centrepiece for your holiday gatherings. A beautifully roasted ham is not only a stunning addition to any festive menu but also a simple way to please your guests. Plus, depending on the size you order, you’ll have plenty to go around, leaving you with hearty leftovers for everyone to enjoy later — And, don’t forget to keep the bone for making soup!
Cooking Your Ham with Ease
One of the wonderful things about ham is how forgiving it is in the kitchen, making it a fantastic option for both novice cooks and seasoned chefs who prefer to focus on sides. While it’s a straightforward dish, there are specific times and temperatures that ensure your ham turns out moist and juicy every time.
The cooking time will vary depending on whether your ham is pre-cooked or uncooked — Here at Central Park Farms, all our hams are fully cured aka pre-cooked.
Cooking Pre-Cooked Hams
Pre-cooked hams are the most common variety available, often boasting a delightful smoky flavour.
Precooked Bone In Ham weighing approximately 10-12lbs should be cooked at 325F for 15-18mins/lbs until it reaches an internal temperature of 140F
Precooked Bone In Ham weighing approximately 5-7lbs should be cooked at 325F for 18-24mins/lbs until it reaches an internal temperature of 140F
We always recommend using a meat thermometer when cooking meat especially when cooking an important meal for a crowd.
